Passion for gastronomy is a feature to be found throughout Basque social life and one of the best reasons for visiting the Basque Country.

Using traditional principles and top-quality fresh products that are in season, Basque nouvelle cuisine experiments with new textures, preparation methods, colours and flavours, that turns cooking into an art.

On the other hand, an unusual way of discovering the so-called cuisine "in miniature" is to visit the typical bars in the historical old town of San Sebastián. There you can taste delicious "pintxos" (tapas) and cazuelitas (tiny casseroles), which are lined up on the bar for you to chose from.
